Kathleen M. Luisi, BSDH, RDH, APDH, CDHC
Kathleen is a dedicated dental hygienist and advocate for children's oral health, with over 25 years of experience. Raised in Braintree, MA, Kathy’s career began after overcoming her childhood fear of the dentist, thanks to a compassionate dental hygienist who inspired her. She now works to ensure that all children have positive dental experiences.
Kathy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene, is certified as a Community Dental Health Coordinator, and is recognized as a Public Health Dental Hygienist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry and as an Affiliated Practice Dental Hygienist by the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners.
In 2010, Kathy was awarded a grant from UMASS Medical School to launch a school-based portable preventive dental program, improving access to care for underserved children. She later founded Mass Kidz Healthy Smiles, LLC, which continues to provide preventive dental care and education in schools and foster homes.
Upon relocating to Arizona in 2020 and serving as an outreach dental hygienist with Maricopa's First Teeth First program, Kathy recognized an urgent need for dental care among Arizona’s children. This fueled her co-founding of the AZ Kidz Healthy Smiles Foundation in 2023. The nonprofit works to reduce oral health disparities among foster children in group homes, empower caregivers with the knowledge, and ensure every child has access to essential dental care.
A licensed foster parent since 2013, Kathy’s commitment to children extends beyond dental care, influencing foster care education and support.
In her personal life, Kathy enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and pets. She loves traveling, music, and staying active with her children and grandchildren.
